FMO reports according to the requirements of the Dutch civil code, or more specifically section 2:391. In addition, FMO follows the [Global Reporting Initiative] (GRI) sustainability guidelines for financial institutions, which set the basis for our reporting method. We also subscribe to the Dutch Transparency Benchmark. For ease of reference, we have indexed the content of this report in a GRI matrix and a Transparency Benchmark matrix, where we use the 'comply or explain' principle.
On the Transparency Benchmark, our 2009 annual report was ranked 24th out of 473 companies, and sixth in a list of 24 banks and insurers. Self-assessing our annual report according to the GRI standards, our report rates at Level B+.
We have for many years integrated sustainability reporting into our annual report, which KPMG audits at the level of limited assurance. We report on material elements, as our sustainability footprint is most affected by our investments and thus by our clients, rather than by our own work at our office or around the world.
